This choice of a name for my new mani blog reveals, I hope, that I am partial to both manicures and to silly wordplay. To be on the safe side I will start off by underlining that this blog isn’t a political manifesto in disguise and I will not be attempting to condition you to joining my cult and giving me your babies and your lizards. However, I might be secretly trying to lure you into my Helmer. Most probably I am. Let’s see how I’ll do.
The inaugural mani is a monochromatic thing I wish I could wear to work. The polishes used are Diamond Cosmetics Matte Black, OPI Alpine Snow and ManGlaze MatteAstrophe. For the embellishments I’ve used striping tape, a dotting tool, and a poorly used nail art brush.
This is how I started:
I adore b/w skittles and wore them like this for about a day, until I felt like gussying it up a little. I pampered my ring finger with a wee bit of striping tape, as such:
I then painted one coat of MatteAstrophe, at the exact same time as the pest control guy rang the doorbell. I tried to remove the tapes as carefully as possible whilst showing him where our ants live, but sadly the still wet matte goodness got dust stuck in it – so don’t go enlarging these pics! The index finger got itself a few dots and a thin coat of MatteAstrophe. The pinkie and middle finger were subjected to my still rudimentary skills with a brush, but I’m betting on practice making perfect some day.
What do you think of the end result? Which nail is worthy of a full mani?
I also just have to say that I’m so very happy to be blogging again, my life doesn’t feel quite complete without being an active part in the nail blogger community. It’s impossible to fully leave once one has been a part of it. Oh my, now I’m sounding like a cult again… Well then. So be it.
