Imiso nail art

You know how plates and other chinaware can be either really plain and naked like an unpainted nail, or have beautiful colours and patterns – sort of like painted arty nails? I have a thing for plates and when I saw this one here I knew I had to attempt some nail art.

Plate1

This is just a quick version. After it was done I realized I didn’t get the colours right. The base is Color Club Nomadic in Nude and the strings are a mix of China Glaze Westside Warrior and OPI Here Today Aragon Tomorrow. There are also tiny dots on the plate that I didn’t manage to translate onto the nail due to my current lack of dotting tools (and tooth picks).
I’m only happy with the ring finger, honestly. But the overall feel was quite yum. I’ll have to try it again when I’ve unpacked and can choose the right green.

The plate is designed by Imiso, which is a studio based in Cape Town, South Africa. They funny thing is I actually lived a few blocks from this studio a couple of years ago, before my plate (and nail polish) mania began – so I never visited their fantastic shop. Frustrating!

A review of Imiso I found on Design AfricaIn a dynamic atelier nestled between two oceans at the foot of Table Mountain, award-winning designer Andile Dyalvane, Zizipho Poswa and their team create Imiso Ceramics. Imiso embraces the dual currents of cultural heritage and cosmopolitan energy to invent work of sensual beauty for the contemporary lifestyle.
